So, is MOBIUS the same thing as Interlibrary Loan?

Yes and no. MOBIUS is a type of Interlibrary Loan (ILL); however, checking the MOBIUS catalog first benefits you! MOBIUS books typically arrive much sooner than ILL books, 2-3 days versus 1-2 weeks.

You may renew a MOBIUS book at any time through your library account, but an ILL book may only be renewed through the Resource Sharing Coordinator with the permission of the lending library. Sometimes, a renewal request may take 3-5 days to be approved, and sometimes it may not be approved at all. But, don’t let that discourage you from placing Interlibrary Loan requests! ILL is here for you when you need a hard-to-find book.

If you can't find a specific book at the STLCOP Library or in MOBIUS, please feel free to place a request for it through Interlibrary Loan. 

How do I see if a book is at STLCOP or in MOBIUS?

When searching for a book, start in the STLCOP catalog. By searching in the STLCOP catalog, you will only see items that we own/have access to. 

If you don’t see what you’re looking for in the STLCOP catalog, click the “Search MOBIUS" button at the top or bottom of the page.

How do I request a book through Interlibrary Loan?

Who can request books through ILL?

ILL is available to all STLCOP students, staff, and faculty. 

What about textbooks?

Unfortunately textbooks cannot be requested through ILL. A copy of each textbook has been placed on Course Reserves at the Library Service Desk, and they are available on a first come first serve limited check out.

How much does ILL cost?

There are no fees for you to get books through ILL. The Library does occasionally pay a small fee for some books, but we don't pass that charge on to our users.

When will my book arrive?

Books requested through ILL usually arrive within 1-2 weeks (please keep in mind the ILL office is closed on weekends). If we are unable to obtain a book from any of our partner lending libraries, we will let you know as soon as possible. 

How will I be notified when my book arrives?

An email notification will be sent to your STLCOP email address. You will then have 1 week to pick up the book up from the Library Service Desk.  

Where do I pick up my ILL book?

At the Library Service Desk. 

How can I renew my ILL book?
